This IEP is for a child with a cochlear implant who is in a mainstream classroom using Total Communication and SEE.

3rd grade

Annual Goal:  To improve written language

Short term goals:

1.  will write paragraphs with a topic sentence and several supporting sentences.
2. She will proofread and revise drafts for correct grammar, punctuation, and coherence.
3. She will write narratives with a beginning, middle and end.

Annual Goal: To increase auditory skills

Short term goals:

1.  will demonstrate auditory/cognitive skills in conversation by answering questions or paraphrasing requiring comprehension of short conversation 100% for each of 2 conversations.
2. She will understand the main idea of a lesson or complex story presented without signs 100% for 3 lessons.
3. She will demonstrate selected auditory skills presented with normal classroom noise with 70% accuracy.

Annual Goal: To maintain at or above grade level language skills

Short term goals:

1.  will show comprehension of a short lesson by answering questions or paraphrasing what has been said with 80% accuracy.
2. She will organize and deliver oral communications by both making brief narrative presentations and participating in group discussions while staying on the topic and taking turns.
3. She will show understanding of vocabulary associated with 3rd grade curriculum by defining words, using in sentences or giving synonyms with 80% accuracy.

Service: speech 2x week 30 min

TOD 2 x week 45 min
