Total Communication Program

I. To improve overall intelligibility
will produce palatals (sh, z, ch) in all word positions with at least 80% accuracy.
will produce medial and final /n/,/d/,/k/,/g/,/s/,and /th/,/t/ in conversational speech with at least 80% accuracy.
will produce s blends (st,sk, ks) in conversational speech with at least 80% accuracy
will produce /z/ in all word positions with at least 70% accuracy.
2. To improve ability to monitor loudness level of voice
will use an appropriate vocal intensity with at least 80% accuracy during a 20 minute period.
3 .To complete all first grade goals and requirements
will complete all first grade goals and requirements as outlined in the Goleta Union School District Grade Level Expectations for Grade One.
4. To optimize classroom environment, independence and promote deaf awareness.
will put on the FM system with supervision daily and change settings as appropriate.
will select appropriate seating to see teacher and signing aid as needed (Please speak louder I cannot hear you. I need a new battery.)
5. To improve expressive language
will use pronouns in sentences with 80% accuracy.
will use verb forms: present progressive (is/are eating), negative present progressive (is not eating), regular and irregular past tense and negative past tense with 70% accuracy.
will use question forms in present progressive tense with 70% accuracy.
will continue to expand vocabulary and concept development by 12 months, including curriculum-related vocabulary.
will increase expressive vocabulary by 12 months as shown on the EDWPVT.
6. To improve receptive language

will increase her receptive vocabulary by 12 months as demonstrated on ROWPVT.
will listen to stories presented with sign language and answer comprehension questions with 70% accuracy.
will participate in pre and/or post teaching of vocabulary associated with first grade curriculum.

7. To improve auditory skills
will discriminate auditorily between new vocabulary words with 80% accuracy.
will modify phonemic features of speech using auditory feedback with 80% accuracy.

Services:

1. DHOH services 3 times a week 45 minutes

2. Speech services 2 times a week 30 minutes

3. Annual audiometric evaluation and hearing aid checks 6 times per year

4. Classroom aide full time, to include backup when aide is unable to attend class

5. FM system
